Amanda’s Recipe: Raw Almond Milk

Almonds are a healthy, savory snack, packed with protein, fiber and omega-3 and -6 fatty acids. Most people are aware of their health benefits and how to incorporate almonds into a healthy diet, but it is less well known that soaking almonds can unlock more health benefits and make them easier to digest. Soaking almonds increases the amount of nutrients and vitamins your body absorbs from the food, making it a simple and effective way to improve this healthy nut.

Not only is this milk alternative easy, but healthy.  I like to soak extra almonds to snack on during the day.  Let me know what you think and ENJOY!!!!

TIP:  Try using cashews or other raw nuts for a different flavor and nutritional experience.  


To yield about 1 cup of nut milk, simply rinse ¼ cup nuts (for a creamier milk, first soak them for 4–6 hours), blend with 1 cup water, and strain through a cheesecloth.

Add flavor

For added flavor plus antioxidants, stir these into 1 cup of nut milk.

If you want VANILLA milk…

Add  1/2 tsp vanilla extract

If you want CHOCOLATE milk….

Add 1 tsp unsweetened cocoa powder

If you want SPICED milk….

Add ½ tsp nutmeg or cinnamon
